History
In the fall of 1973, Otto Schlatter and Larry Wiersma founded Model Pattern Company Inc. Their mission was simple: to handcraft quality models, patterns, and prototypes. As a result of growth and changes in technology the name of the company was changed to MP Components, in January of 1996, to represent the wide range of capabilities now present at the facility.
MP Components today is utilizing a 28,000 square-foot building in Michigan and 10,000 square-feet in Tennessee. We are using the latest technology and sophisticated equipment to design and manufacture a host of customer driven requests; including checking fixtures (from very simple to the complex automated fixtures), models & foundry patterns, aluminum vacuum molds, blow molds, foam and compression molds, automated machinery and trim dies. Our capabilities enable us to service the automotive, furniture, appliance, aerospace and medical industries.
Today, the second generation, Joe Schlatter and John Schlatter are striving to move the company forward. Joe, since joining the company in 1989, has prepared himself to manage operations by working in every industrial process position within the company in Michigan. John, who pursued a career in public accounting and internal audit, has returned to bring a financial and administrative overtone to the company and is working from the Tennessee location. Together Joe and John comprise a great team to lead MP Components successfully into the future.
